The Artech Grant

Call for Public Art Collectors and Artists: Artech Public Grant!

The staff at Artech is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Artech Grant! Artech has been an active participant in the local art community for over 30 years providing tailored solutions and services for collectors throughout the Pacific Northwest. Artech is largely comprised of working artists and we feel strongly, that in good times and bad, it is important to join hands as partners in the spirit of public art wherever and whenever possible. As a way of saying thank you to the community that has supported us, we would like to offer our assistance to a contracted public art project.

Budget/Grant amount
The Artech Grant program provides up to $2,500 worth of Artech's wide range of services towards the cost of a public art project. The Grant must be used in full by December 31, 2012. The Grant can be applied to Artech provided services and Artech in-house fabrication only. It is not applicable for rental equipment or custom fabrication. The Grant may cover part or all of the project scope. The artist or organization is responsible for all costs beyond the $2,500.

Eligibility
Non profit art institutions, public collectors and artists under contract for public commission throughout Washington State are encouraged to apply. The project must be approved and have all other funds in place prior to application. Artech employees, suppliers, and subcontractors are not eligible.

Scope of Work
The qualified project pool is as vast as the need for public art assistance. Qualified projects may include, but are not limited to, art installation or maintenance, museum installation or assistance, archival upgrades, a collection move, full or partial collection storage for long or short term, totem or other carved wood restoration, etc. If you are uncertain if your project qualifies, please see contact information below.

    Impetus for the program
Artech serves numerous public collectors and artists throughout Washington State with a significant concentration in the Puget Sound area. Working with public collectors and artists has made us acutely aware of the difficult decisions on how best to utilize limited funds to protect existing collections or safely handle and install new acquisitions. It isn't easy and we see the struggle. Over the years we've built long term relationships and worked with public collectors to determine long term plans and to address urgent needs while working with increasingly constrained budgets.

As an art support organization we share the same goals as our public collectors and artists, to safe guard our local collections for generations to come. We do this by providing the most qualified personnel in the state to install, move, manage, maintain, store, and secure your collections. We have always provided discounted rates to the public art community and in 2010, in response to the overall economic downturn, we reduced these rates again. We have worked collaboratively to assist public arts organizations to design cost saving solutions wherever possible. We want to do more and engage our community, engage our staff, and join hands.
